Hobonichi – My 4th year :)

Wow time really flies. It is time to get a new hobonichi for next year. I of course have to write up on this yearly event ๐Ÿ˜€

2020
2020 has been a different year for everyone. I purchased 2 bobonichi for the 1st time – Weeks and Techo A6! I was very excited to use them… My plan was to use weeks at work and techo A6 at home. Due to the changes in the circumstances, I didnt get to use weeks much >_< I stayed home to work for like 3 months instead of going to work. Then my work… got so busy that I worked till late almost everyday. Even if I was just working at home. I just couldn’t find a free timeslot to write in my weeks. I didn’t regret my choice… Its expensive… due to the quality. haha. But at least I know how weeks is like for me. Anyway, due to this change in the circumstance, I am hesitating abit this year.

2021 – Weeks or Techo A6? or Day-Free?
I usually ordered on the first 2 days. But this year? I am hesitating. I wanted to get weeks and Techo A6 again. But I know, life may not be getting back to normal. (In the situation of work). I am still busy…. there is just so much I have to do at work. So I don’t think I can get another weeks for work. At the same time, I am considering downgrade to weeks. Its hard honestly to maintain 2 planners. I am using a 3rd planner for work (just something cheap from the local bookstore. I wasn’t so crazy about my work that I could justify spending so much on a work planner haha!)… My Techo A6… didn’t get much love. By sticking to Weeks, I would FOCUS on updating one.
At the same time, I am also wanted to write more… A6 size is great but it become too space constraint if I were to start writing alot. This year, I started training myself to fill up more pages by writing random stuffs. So I am also thinking about Day-Free. It would allow me to write and ignore the dates since I am also missing it.

Choices
Weeks
Ah, Poncho. Would be my 1st choice if I were to get only 1 planner. I love polka dot for a long time…. But if I were to get 2 planners, then I have to go plain for weeks.
I kinda like cherry blossom. But since my weeks this year is abit pinkish, so I am going for Mint. I have always been a fan of Mint colour.

A6
I kinda like Umikoto. It is the right (nautical) design that I would like alot. But it wasn’t enough for me to instantly buy. I was quite crazy for nautical print for a few months (HA) but the love kinda die off now….
Blazer Stripes is something I would consider if there isn’t any budget constraint. (I don’t fix a budget but I am also careful about not spending too much on these…). Its kinda a classic design that you could use over and over again.
Time-Traveling Bird is also an design that I am looking at. It reminds me of 2 things that I love: “Time Travel” stories & Harry Potter (owl that deliver letters).
Buying plain cover is always something I am thinking of since I want to keep to a budget. Summer Lemon is something I would like. But I am using a yellow cover for 2 years straight (I didn’t get a new one last year). Dreamy pink is kinda my colour. But somehow this year, I decided to lose my love for pinkish stuffs lol I would go for black but I decided that it is too plain boring. So I ended up with Blue Pistachio for the colour choice.

I am still considering which one to buy…

Accessories?
Doraemon pencil board… Doraemon is somehow something I always love watching. I am not a huge fan to use their cover as my choice. But I know I have to get the pencil board ๐Ÿ˜€
Other than that, I am not getting any fancy accessories this year as I ended up not using them much >_<

Drawer pouch?
Ever since the release of drawer pouch, I am always thinking of getting it. I love Hobonichi. I really do. But I wish that they could price it at a more reasonable pricing? A basic black Ane cost USD44. I feel that it is too expensive. I know they sell great quality stuffs but I cannot justify spending that amount when I know I can get a similar (non-hobonichi) design for like half the price. Maybe I am not too crazy over Hobonichi yet. ^_^;

Review – Iuiga PJ

I’m not quite a fan of collared PJ. I decided to purchase this set from Iuiga as I need really decent PJ. I’m starting to build up a “capsule” version in the area of pajamas cos SLEEPING WELL IS SO IMPORTANT!

So far I have not selected anything into the collection yet. I have tons of cheap PJ from Taobao, malls, F21 etc.

Its 100% cotton which is something my mum will approve.

I was initially worried that it may be too hot for our weather. But seeing that this was developed for our hot weather – being an local brand, I go ahead and purchased it.

At $33.60, it isn’t exactly that cheap. I mean there are cheaper stuffs at taobao. But in term of retail pricing, it’s considered as quite reasonable priced. And it’s cheaper than Muji. This is what the company trying to do isn’t it.

I have been looking for a PJ for a month. After some researching, I realise that not many places sell PJ. I know alot of people around me don’t wear haha so I decided to make do with it.

So I tried wearing it last night and feel that it’s not too bad.

As I said, I’m not a fan of collared PJ as I do not like collar at my neck while I sleep. I am trying to get used to it so I can only wear it on Fridays or Saturdays. The logic behind this is that at least it won’t affect my required rest for a working day haha

Cotton – I’m not sure what kind of cotton that they uses. Because as a smart consumer, I know there are a difference in term of cotton. But the material they used make the PJ soft and its not hot. I don’t sleep in air conditioning room cos I don’t sleep too well in one. So the material is very important. The basic criteria is of course I cannot feel hot in a room with fan and under my blanket – I cannot sleep without one! So this fits the criteria. The only area I find uncomfortable is the collar. But then this is just me being fussy about collar.

Its also very well made. Sometimes when you buy things online especially at taobao, you open up the parcel… Uh.. Wierd smell and sloppy finishing. But I don’t smell anything and it’s just very well made… No loose thread or whatsoever.

It has pockets! I love pockets. Who doesn’t? But it’s a PJ.. so it doesn’t matter as compared to a dress for work. But still, it’s a plus point.

In future I hope that there is more design or style. I’m not a fan of PJ short. I can’t rewear it the next day. I just don’t like wearing short as compared to dress. Not that I rewear my other PJ. I seldom do that though. But this is definitely not my favourite style. And no collar please. I definitely cannot wear collar everyday. In the meantime, I’m going back to my 10bucks tee dress for the rest of the week.

Making my own terrarium plant

I never have a green finger. My parents grow a lot of plants but I was never interested in them. I like looking at them but I am that interested at maintaining them.
Last week, I decided to have a plant at my desk because having a plant will make my mood better I think haha

So I decided to look for a terrarium plant because they are easy to maintain (Had one a few years but it died as I didn’t have the mood to maintain it. Work Crisis!) and look nicer than regular plant. There is also option to add in the figurine to beautify too ๐Ÿ™‚

First, I tried to search for a completed set because I am lazy to make one by myself. I couldn’t find something that I like. Then I came across this listing online. The price was cheap. But… you have to make the plant on your own. After watching the video provided by the seller, It seems easy. So I purchased 2 sets to DIY. It arrived today. So after work, I rushed home & start making it! It wasn’t as hard… but it wasn’t easy either. I took about 30-45 mins to complete 2 sets. The process was fun but it was also stressful (being my first time).

I started doing this first… I have a feeling that I did something wrong. Let’s see if the plant will survive or not! The figurine that I added is from a Taiwanese illustrator (Jimmy Liao) that I like. The title of the book is Turn left, Turn right. I love this illustration. Hence, I didn’t hesitate to purchase the figurine when I saw it ๐Ÿ˜€
My second attempt seems much better. I purchased this set because I love colourful things. I am a believer in having colourful things to brighten my mood ๐Ÿ™‚ The duck figurines are given by default.
The making… final picture before it’s ready.
Putting the plant in..
Adding moss!
First layer – Clay Pebbles

28 July 2018

I decided to write an post as I have some time to kill before my nieces and nephew are here!

Fitbit
I finally gotten one! I have been thinking about getting one for 2 years! I finally decided to get because I am on this health programme with my insurer to clock in steps each day to get voucher. I can also clock in using my iPhone but it is very tiring to carry my phone everywhere I goes. I feel that it is not as accurate as well. Having a watch on my wrist is much easier. I was very wary of getting smartwatch after my encounter with Pebble. Never never get tech stuffs from startup company. I thought they were quite solid but it turns out to be… sigh I don’t even want to think about the amount that I have spend on this company. So I waited for 2 years before I was really sure about this.

So I purchased an Atla HR. It was an older model but I learnt from my past when dealing with Pebble is never get an expensive one. My main focus is anyway to clock in steps so I don’t need a lot of function.

I decided to get black although its boring. But its much cheaper. Again, never pay extra for special or limited edition. haha.

I purchased third party strap from aliexpress for USD3. Introduced to an fellow colleague. She say its fake. I was like so what lol. Honestly, nobody really cares if your strap is real or not. I mean as long as the watch is real right. I used third party strap all the times… even back in those Pebbles days. There is no right or wrong in this. You can get any handphone covers. Why do you have to restrict yourselves on your watch strap choice? Duh. And she complained the real strap is expensive. You think the real one is expensive and the third party one is fake. Then what do you want?

Okay, for my goal of 10K everyday, I have been doing well for the past 4 days. Lol. But its weekend. I charged up my Fitbit (just got it yesterday) and clock in much lesser today. But its good as I am being reminded to walk every now and then.

Minimalismย
I decided to give up my plan to minimise books LOL. I mean I do borrow from the library or read e-books. But I decided not to restrict myself from buying books. But I would buy only books that I am really sure on! I purchased Marie Kondo’s book recently even though I have read it before. I know that I would refer to this book very often. So I decided to purchase it.

I am currently organisation my DVD/CD. I threw all of my VCD collection. It was a good decision because I would never play them again. I throw away some DVDs and CD casing… leaving only the disc itself. And I organised them into CD pouches. I haven’t buy DVD and CD for like a long time. Whenever possible, I purchase them on iTune instead. ๐Ÿ™‚

Then, as usual, I am trying to reduce my stationaries. I “donated” some parts of it to my nieces by putting them in the common area for them to use when they comes over. Other than that, I would try to use them as much as possible.

I minimise my wardrobe every now and then. Of course, I have tried to avoid purchasing ย whenever possible.

Will be continuing to work on this.

My Loqi Reusable bag

As part of my green initiatives, I started to cut down plastic bags.
I used to have a few reusable bags from Baggu. ย But I never really used them. I kept one at work for emergency use. But I rarely find the need to take it out. I used another for bringing my lunch to work. But the rest are mainly kept at home. I didn’t have the habit of bringing one out with me whenever I went out. So a few weeks ago, I decided that I should bring one wherever I goes!

As much I love Baggu, I find them a bit too plain for my liking. Sure sometimes they have very nice prints in limited supply every now and then. But the shipping fees doesn’t justify for me to get them. The ones that I have are in plain colours. Despite it being an popular brands, not many stores carry them locally. I only came across them once!

Then I came across.. Loqi! It is slightly expensive when compared to Baggu. But its worth it! I have heard of Loqi for a long time but I never thought of buying one as I am a Baggu fan. LOL. So I came across a sale page on one of my favourite shopping platform. It is expensive but still quite reasonable priced. There are a lot of prints.. its like Baggu but much much prettier. So I decided to invest in one! Nothing really caught my eyes except for The Sunday on the island. But for some reason, it was sold out. The Starry Night is too common… although my niece would be delighted to see me carrying it. She is only 7 years old but she already know this painting! ๐Ÿ˜€ So I went to their website to see and saw ย Vase with sunflower. It was love at first sight and I know that I have to get it! It is no longer available online at the office online shop and the seller wasn’t selling it either. And I wasn’t even sure if the seller are selling the authentic Loqi or not. You never know, these days… anything could be fake. So the next day, after work, I rush to one of local retailers (Yes they are much more common as compared to Baggu). I was really hoping that they have this exact design. They also have the The Sunday on the island. In fact, it was displayed out and for some reason, it didn’t look as nice in the actual product lol so obviously, I purchased the Vase with sunflower instead. ย I am really happy with the purchase. Because it is still so beautiful even though I keep looking at it. And I feel like getting like 4-5 of them just to make sure I have it forever like when it break or something. But the minimalist me say no.

So after getting this, I keep it with me like 90% of the time! The only exception is when I am out for a quick meal. I gifted one of my Baggu and another reusable bag (given by an ex-colleague last year for Christmas) to my mum. I saved about 7 plastic bags (Refusing them at the cashier) so far and looking forward to save more ๐Ÿ™‚

Random rant: jobsearch

Sometimes I don’t like to answer certain questions – like when I am having a bad day and do not feel like texting, when someone keep bugging me for answers and I have already said that I would get back to them, when I am not “right” party and they just assume I am etc.

I have one particular friend which I always avoided certain type of questions & after many times of ignoring, she still do not get it. It’s really sad how ignorant some people can be. Hello when someone do not reply to that question every single time, it’s damn obvious they do not want to answer! So kindly stop asking and talk about other stuffs GET IT?

I am looking for a new job. It’s taking me much longer time than usual – because there is so much going on in my life right now! Yes, I am really actually quite busy. I have so many things to be bothered with! I am not in the real rush to get another job. I hate my job a little and I wished that I have gotten a better compensation ย (who doesn’t?). But I still have a job and many people don’t. When you still have that job, you commit maybe 30% of your time in the job search. So the progress is slow.

So that particular friend loves to be updated on my progress by asking me if I have attended any interview.

The reason that I do not reply to her because I don’t feel that I need to keep her updated on my progress. It is after all my personal life and my career. It has nothing to do with her. It seems like she is following up on me like we are on this shared project.

Everyone experience some ย form of frustration when they are job searching. Many people do not get a job instantly! Some people are lucky. They might get interview as soon as they send out that resume. But I don’t think a lot of people experienced that. So…Nobody likes to be reminded that they have not attend any interview!

I have done Lasik!

Another item checked from my life goals ๐Ÿ™‚

Why do it now?
I always thought Lasik is painful and scary since its an operation on eyes! I only have one pair of eye!!!

I never wear contact lens and do not have the guts to do so lol so Lasik is obviously the best solution for me. So yes I always wanted to go for Lasik but never thought of understanding Lasik until this year. I have some extra cash from LONG-TIME saving. I have been trying to save really hard for the past 1 year plus. It is not particularly for my Lasik surgery. But I just find a joy to save and with my “becoming minimalist” lifestyle, I have no reason to splurge like before.

After learning that Lasik is simple and painless procedure from an talk, I decided to take the first step.
So after the talk, I took the chance to register for my assessment. It is only after the assessment, then the doctor would inform you if you are suitable for Lasik. And yes, not everyone are suitable for Lasik! I didn’t know this previously! So don’t get so exciting yet..
Do attend one of those talks to get discount. Although its not a lot, but its better than nothing!

I randomly went this clinic (I am not here to promote it so I am not going say which one I went to lol) as my aunt passed me the name card of a doctor. My cousin did it there few years ago?
Some people did research on it and picked the one based on some factors. Like the doctor is really good, friendly nurse etc. But it doesn’t matter to me because the clinic did a lot of Lasik surgery and I find it much safer to do in a private clinic!
However, I might not recommend this clinic to my friends because I feel that the doctor is not so detailed in explaining and consulting. I didn’t even get any information on my eye results. I think because I paid very little for the assessment and need to pay extra for the full results. -_- I am already paying so much for the surgery. Why can’t you just included in right? Anyway, I find it an hassle to switch clinic since I have done the assessment. I DO NOT want to do my assessment again. So I went ahead with the clinic even though I am not 100% happy or satisfied with the service. I am not those demanding client! ๐Ÿ˜€

Eye assessmentย
I went through a few machines for the assessment. Although it sound scary, but they are painless. Most of them are easy as you just need to focus on the lights and avoid blinking. Took me 2-3 hours although it is due to some waiting time for the eyedrops to take effect and I have to re-do some machines due to not so good results. My doctor told me that I am suitable for all procedure (yay!). I wanted to take the smile procedure initially because its the newest technology. With the extra cost that I have to pay for the customised Lasik, I am paying for the same amount. But of course I know I should think through so I told the nurse that I will consider and call back.

Choosing the procedure – Lasik VS Smile
I choose Lasik in the end instead of Smile. Because its difficult for enhancements if I do smile. ย I have fairly higher degree so having the customise surgery means I get custom results? Also, Smile is also still quite new as compared to Lasik so really long time stuffs are still unknown. I am lazy to change glass. My glass is like 2-3 years old so I don’t know if my degree are stable for the past one year. And I think Smile will take longer time to get the vision.

So I booked the appointment for one month later. I choose a Thursday because I want to have rest time over the weekend and have less absence days from work lol (Because nobody covers me when I am away!)

During the one month plus, I read a lot about the surgery, post and after surgery…. I put all information in my Evernote so as not to mess up my brain. But honestly, reading all the information make me feel as nervous because you still feel unprepared and didn’t know what to expect. Also… this is my first surgery. So I am extra nervous.

A friend keep asking me if I feel excited. I don’t feel any bit of exciting because its all nervous.

Pre-surgery
Nothing much needed to prepare for it as I don’t wear contact lens. Its apparently okay to bath and shampoo on the previous night and on the day itself (before not after). I was misled by some informations online but I also didn’t want to take chance (being a very kiasi singaporean XD)ย

Other than that, I tried not to use my mobile phone, watch television or use my MacBook too much lol although I think its quite okay to do so!!!

Surgery day
My appointment was set at 2.30pm. So I enjoyed my last moments by playing my mobile phone as much as I can and being very nervous. I keep questioning myself – why did I want to torture myself into this!!

I ate some lunch (too nervous) and bath (REALLY CLEAN UP because you cannot do after the surgery) and took a cab down.

Reached there much earlier like 20-25mins. Mum (You need someone to bring you home) and I shopped around first looking at shoes. Then when its nearly the time, I went to washroom first.

Reached the clinic and was asked about the payment. I paid everything at one go because I hate doing things by instalment.

Then after 5 mins, I was called to go in to prep for the surgery. I was given some form to read, a valium to calm down ย and the medication package. I was being explained by the nurse about the surgery procedure, the medications and after surgery important “to do”. Some of the information are not new to me due to my research. This is also the opportunity to clarify any doubts that you have. But with technology, you can pretty much get most informations online.

The valium did calm me down but I am still nervous!
Despite reading it online and hearing the information from the nurse, its still quite nervous sitting there and waiting for your turn.

I waited for about 15mins and then one person went in. She was sitting at the far left. I thought I am going to be the last person… So I started to relax for like 2-3 mins… But the nurse came to me and told me I am going in soon?! what??!! I am not quite prepared!! But because of the valium, I didn’t panic hahaha.

An nurse came to put in the numbing eyedrops (I hate eyedrops. This is like the most torturing experiences for me. After surgery, I have to put in eyedrops every hour!). Took him awhile to get the eyedrops in (Too nervous). Then I was ushered in and asked to lie down on the operating bed. The nurse asked if I am okay. I say yes but I am bit shaking….

Get yourself into a comfortable position and breathe normally. Because silly me. I forgot to breathe lol

So the surgery begins. I was quite worried about doing things wrongly. But there is nothing to worry because it is super fast and you didn’t have the time to think! All you need to do is stay still! And they are doing it eye by eye. so you can relax one eye.

First machine helps to create the flap. They have this suction ring thingy to do it. I didn’t feel the pressure as described by others (Too nervous??) but I was more worried about doing it all wrong. But it went well apparently.

Then second machine… the lesser scary part is the laser machine to do the actual thing. It is not scary and you just have to focus on the red light. You would smell some stuffs. just ignore it lol the doctor will say how long it takes. It might take longer (my right eye was 56sec). My colleague (who is also considering the surgery) told me that I would smell some burning stuffs. I insisted I will NOT! But I do actually smell it.

Finally the last part because I signed up for corneal cross-linking. This is the most easy part because you just have to stay still. Doctor will drop the eyedrops (yellow-ish stuffs) and shine your eyes on some laser lights.

After doing one eye, that’s when I get excited because I am half way there. Then we continue with the next eye (less nervous now that you know what is going on).

Immediately after surgery (afterย eyedrops wears off)
It is not pain. But it feels uncomfortable like some stuffs got into your eyes. But you cannot touch it or wipe it away. You will just keep tearing up…
You really need someone to hold you because you cannot see well. Its blurry at first and clears up slowly.

Really prepare your transport. We stood in the line in the taxi stand but it was raining…. ARGHHHH.

After reaching home (finally), my mum helps me to put on the eye shields and I slept. They gave sleeping pills. But I always avoid medicine if I could. So I just fall asleep naturally.

The night after the surgery
I slept about 2 hours although it was recommended to sleep for 4-6 hours. I wake up with a clearer vision. I feel that I can see 100% but I think it was 50%. I don’t feel any pain. But started my eyedrops routine. (This is the part which I didn’t manage to get from the research. I thought its only for dry eyes. But you need to put other eyedrops too. This is only thing I hate. Because I am not a fan of eyedrops. Until today – 9 days after surgery I still couldn’t instil eyedrops perfectly lol)

Day 1 – Day 3ย
I did my surgery on Thursday so that I can have the weekend to recover.
I was able to see immediately the next day. I wasn’t as sensitive to lights as I thought. But it does feel better with the sunglass on when I am outside.

I didn’t notice any night vision initially because I stayed at home.

Dry eyes. HA I am soooo lucky!! I never have any dry eyes problems before. I will only tears up only when eyelashes get into my eyes. And after Lasik? Not much problem either! My clinic recommend putting non-preservative lubricating eyedrops into my eyes but I rarely have to do so (like today – 9 days after surgery, I didn’t even find a need to drop even one drop to my eyes!) I find it strange but feel very lucky because I hate putting eyedrops!

I feel tired easily. So I tried to sleep as much as I can. I don’t use mobile phone that much to avoid tiredness.

Avoid washing hair and face for 48 hours. My face and hair feels so oily. But its for my own good. After 48 hours, I used cotton wool to wash my face. Although some says its safe to use towel, but I prefer cotton wool.ย My mum helped me to wash my hair while I cover my face lol. I have to avoid getting water into my eye for a week!

Day 4
First day back at work!! I felt like I was on a strange movie set with extra and lots of odd bright lights… I asked my colleague if they changed the lighting. She say no. It was just my eye then!
I noticed my night vision finally. I was resting at home on previous days. So it wasn’t really noticeable. But I get the usual halo, ghosting etc.

My eyes do get tired easier when looking at laptop for long. I just switch to paperwork to rest my eyes. I slept earlier because I need more rest time and I feel tired.

I continue putting on eyeshields (for a week) when sleeping as extra precaution. It is recommended to wear for 3 days only.

Day 5
Nothing much. Same tiredness after work. Noticed that I can’t see far that well yet.

Day 6ย
I took leave and rest at home because my mum feels that I shouldn’t work so hard. My eyes feel less tired (due to not working? :p) and otherwise, it almost seems like normal.

Day 7 – Day 9
Back to normal. I canย finally wash my hair myself. I also stopped using the eye shields when sleeping. For the past 2 days, I feel very normal lol because I can stop the eyedrops (the prescribed ones) so it doesn’t remind me that I just have Lasik. And I can bath normally without having to worry about getting water into my eyes. The only thing I am avoiding is rubbing or touching my eyes directly with hands. I don’t rub eyes much and have been avoiding since I have the surgery, so it is not a big issue.

I still don’t get dry eyes issue. yay! Although occasionally, I feel bit uncomfortable but it usually goes away in a short few seconds.

My eyes aren’t that tired now. I went back to abusing my eyes lol by using my macbook for many hours. My mum told me off. But I do tried to rest my eyes every now and then.

Sometimes I still forget I don’t have my glasses on and wanted to take it out. Especially when Im bathing or sleeping. And it feels amazing to be able to see things when I wake up in the morning.

This is one of the things I can see from my bed. Yes my Harry Potter merch. I wasn’t able to do so previously as I have to wear my glasses first.

Some updates ๐Ÿ™‚

Lasik Surgery
Yes, I am going for the surgery soon!
Why I choose to do it now? It has been on my mind for years. I never have the time, money or courage to go ahead with one until this year. So I just decided to take a big step ahead.
It is bit scary thinking about it… I am quite nervous that I couldn’t sleep well for a couple of night last week. ๐Ÿ˜› But I keep telling myself that its a quick and painless technology. That’s another reason why I wanted to go ahead with the surgery. Because the technology is much much better now. I will write up on this after my experience!

Minimalismย
I am putting my minimalism project onto a hold. Because I am going to have surgery soon. So I decided not to do any major tidying or organisation work for the next 3-4 months at least. I am also facing some challenges. I lived with my family. So my mum discourages me to throw furniture even though I really want to throw one cupboard out for some extreme minimalism. But the other way is probably to get rid of my stuffs until I do not need the cupboard. So I can convince my mum that I need to throw it away. I am also lack of inspiration on what I should be doing next. I changed my shopping habit. But I still have so much stuffs ๐Ÿ˜ฎ anyway, I decided to read marie kondo for inspirations like finally! I keep telling myself not to stress over this too much because its not good for me ๐Ÿ˜ฎ sometimes I spend my afternoon thinking about my cluttered-free room and get stress up un-necessary. Although it’s achievable, but this could only happen few years down the road.

Reading
I finally completed one book! I have been really slack in my reading for a couple of years. I know its bad but I hope I can do better this year.
Recently I just discovered my local library have a e-book system!! Which means I can borrow e-books and read on my MacBook. Its bad for the eye but good for my pocket. ๐Ÿ˜€
As part of the minimalism goals, I am NOT buying physical books as much. I would only buy books that I know I would keep and love for many years. But e-books aren’t exactly cheap either. But anyway, I anticipate that I am going to use the library more often. I am currently reading Marie Kondo ๐Ÿ˜€ So hoping that I get some ideas & continue the journey after my short hiatus ๐Ÿ˜€

Writing
I love my Hobonichi Techo. I suspect this is the only planner I am going to use for the rest of my life! But I find myself getting slack in this too. I am not exactly creative so I still not using stuffs like tapes, stamps etc although I own some. I am aiming to start using them. Oh yeah, I reduced my “craft” collection seeing that I would not be using all of them anyway. I still have far too much stationary though. Yay for some minimalism efforts.

FieldNotes subscription
The good:ย You get limited edition stuffs and it is really worth it. I pay only 10bucks for international shipping and it covers all the shipments (4 of them!). You get extra stuffs sometimes.
The bad: I am usually “spoiled” before I get the stuffs because international shipping is so long. So its not really surprise. There is no auto-renewal so you have to subscribe to it again.
It’s not too bad if you are re-thinking. I am re-thinking and will not have plan to re-subsribe because the drawers where I put my new notebooks is full! I also don’t have much use for it yet.

Other stuffs
I am happy to read such news! Too bad for the person who got caught. But I really hate when consumers are being cheated. In some cases, seller claimed that they are authentic when they are not. Although this could be avoided if consumers do a proper research, but its very unethical for the seller to be making money by claiming that they are authentic. So I strongly feel that these sellers should be punished. I hope the e-commerce site like Qoo10, Lazada could really take this seriously! I tried telling them about the obvious fake longchamp bags but they only tell me that they will direct to the relevant department. And they are still promoting them! Terrible!

Book Beau Review

After a long hiatus on Kickstarter, I started backing another project again.
The reason why I stopped using Kickstarter is that I met a scammer (Yeah they have like a second company or something. So I don’t know why they can’t deliver) and a few products that I don’t really used. So I became very selective. But I decided to back only products that I would use. I can’t remember how I came across Book Beau – could be some bookish post. Then when I went to their Etsy, I was so disappointed that their store is closed.

Then I saw that they have a Kickstarter! I backed because it is a bookish product – something I would use! I couldn’t decided on the size so I backed all 3 sizes.

So BB is like a pouch thingy with pad to protect your book. If you read alot and own alot of books, you would know the feeling of having a book with folded edge. Horrible feeling!

The idea of BB isn’t exactly something very unique. Well, if you are talented, you can easily DIY. But I can’t sew so I have to spend money to get one!

I love the Carousel fabric. It is so pretty โค But I regretted on the Carina Nebula. The photo look so much nicer. The real thing just look different. ๐Ÿ˜ฆ

Oh, the smaller one fit in my new Hobonichi Techo ๐Ÿ˜€

Okay now for rants…

The first issue that I have is the choice of fabric. One main reason why I backed this project is they have the Harry Potter Quirky Wizards fabric that I am fond of! But it was later out of stock due to supply issue. It was a major disappointment but things do happen in Kickstarter project! They have used Always (shown above) as the replacement. Okay, I do love the “Always” but it has become a bit overrated for me. I get too much of the “Always” stuffs in the previous subbox. And B&W fabric is too plain for my liking. So I choose other 2 fabrics instead of having all the same like I wanted.

The second issue is the additional shipping issue which I did not get any satisfactory answer. So I added on another BB as I wanted to give it to a friend for Christmas. The post in Kickstarter didn’t mention anything about additional shipping that I have to pay for. When I emailed them, they ignored me as they were busy with shipping and upgrading. So after they ship (that’s would be my third issue), I decided to email them. At first someone who just joined their team told me it was quite clearly stated. Then when I replied back with the link. She told me that she will pass it to her superior as she wasn’t here during the Kickstarter period. So her superior came back and say that backerkit will auto adjust for shipping blah blah. I did use a backerkit a couple of times before and is quite familiar with the system. But I never have an issue as it was always highlighted to me. Actually the amount is not a lot. But my point is that if there is additional shipping, backers should be notified as I would have get more to save on shipping.

The third issue is on the shipping. When they said they shipped everything out, but I didn’t get anything so I decided to email to them. Again, there was a issue with backerkit and it was marked shipped. So they have to adjust the system so that they can ship again.

Despite the issues, I am still quite happy with the items except for one fabric which didn’t look as nice as photos. I may not buy from them again since I have 3! That’s quite enough to last a lifetime. But their store would be opening soon. So purchasing from them would be much easier.

Bullet Journal & how it works for me?

I have heard of Bullet Journal but never get around to understand it until a few days ago. I am not going to explain about Bullet Journal as there is so much info from googling.

Now I am going to talk about how it will works for me? I have not started on it yet but I will do so in the next couple of weeks on an old moleskine that I have ditched!

My problem – Too many notebooks and too many information everywhere! I have too many notebooks (oops!) and information are everywhere… I tried digital (GoogleDrive), numerous apps, notebooks etc.. Some “projects” that I was planning ended up uncompleted. Notebooks written for a few pages and it was then ditched. One of which I am re-starting was an expensive (!!) Le Petit Prince Moleskine hardcover! With BuJo, I can consolidate everything into a single notebook! The problem with a planner is there is no flexibility in adding pages. I know, there is Midori Traveler. But I will not get it as it’s against what I believe in (No animal thing for me :)). I did do some planning with a fauxdori but I never likes it as the space is too small.
Then I would have excuse to buy new stationaries (HAHAHA!)…
There is not right or wrong on how you manage your BuJo which is great for me. I am still going to keep a planner (Of cos! I just spend $113 on a new Hobonichi + accessories!!) so I am not going to do the monthly or daily things.
