Review of Longchamp Neo (With strap)

I had a Longchamp Le Pliage bag. I like it because it’s so easy to tote around and I can put really a lot of stuffs in it.

I know the trim is kinda leathery but there is so many plus points!
– Easy to match with my office clothes. Canvas and office clothes sometimes don’t go together.
– Sometimes I really need a big bag to fit in everything and likes to be hands free. With a huge tote, it’s much easier.
– I won’t feel like I need to be really careful with the bag in fear of spoiling it which is exactly the problem I have with my other vegan leather bags. Ya, I know they are not Chanel or LV. But I do feel painful if I ever ruin them.
– They are light weight! so its good for travelling etc. (Although I have never bring one on travling but I might…)
So I find it hard to give up on it lol.

Anyway a couple of weeks ago, I was reading a forum and I realize there are a lot of fakes LC in the market! What?! The ones I saw on carousell and qoo10 are fakes?! They do not have one in maroon color (not in this season anyway!)! Okay it was surprised to me.. because the market is flooded with it. The seller insisted that they are from Paris etc.. so I never suspect it to be fake. This also made me doubt the authenticity of my (old) bag and realize that It could be fake?! But I wasn’t too sure because they do have that design (cage aux oiseaux) in that color (Lagoon) sigh some sellers… they don’t even know what they are doing. It’s like if you want to fake it, then make it look real! It does not come with any dust bag or fake looking receipt. It was shipped from Korea. Hmm. But the bag do give a wierd smell. There is some kind of leathery (?) smell which I can’t get rid of despite washing it and airing it! I smell my mum’s LC (from Taipei airport!)… it doesn’t have this weird smell so I don’t know. This weird smell is making me having second thoughts and it could be due to some substandard material being used in manufacturing that bag so it results in this after an extended uses!
Anyway, so they only have like 3-4 colours in the current season and any other colours available in mass is very likely to be fake! They do have the maroon (opera is the actual name) but it’s no longer available! Some colours like green was never available and there is a shade of pink (hydrangea) is only available on Bloomingdales! Go to the boutique to check for the current season colours.

Qoo10 have alot of fakes ones. Never buy from Qoo10! Only a couple of sellers are selling the real ones. $100 or more off retail is not cost saving but rather its a scam to make you believe that you are getting the real thing. There was never overrun of factory stocks or any rejects. It is just a stupid excuse to cheat you into buying a replica product. BTW, Qoo10 do contribute to this rubbish by helping the sellers advertising the bags as authentic. Qoo10 is such a joke!
If past seasons colours are easily available everywhere, then something is very wrong isn’t it.

So I decided to replace it with a real one!! With so many fakes flooding the online market, I decided to get one from the boutique. Ya, they are slightly more expensive because price is, uh, fixed. But it’s better be safe than sorry! I do not want spend my money at a risk of getting a fake one again! I purchased it at the airport today on the way back home. A boutique!! Super exciting because it was my first time purchasing a luxury item from an boutique!! It wasn’t duty free like I wanted. I don’t know how it works lol maybe I have to get it before I go or something. But anyway, I was on a flight back from Malaysia. I think I cannot get it duty free anyway. I decided to go for Raspberry because Navy or Black is common and seems to be available always. And I was never a fan of Grey. I read online on the next season colours (Gold? Silver? Red?) and was really happy that I went for Raspberry because there is no way I am getting the new season colours and I would ended up with Navy or Black. I’m tempted to get the Yellow (or official colour name is Sunshine) next. Ha it’s on my wishlist next.

lc_zpscsdiurei

I finally bought it out after airing it for 2 days. There was a leather smell lol
I really love the colour… it looks bright but it isn’t! It is not so bright yet it add a pop of colour to my dull clothing 🙂 I think I would love this more than opera which I would get if I can.

At first, I felt the strap is too long…. I thought of returning it or finding an alternate strap. But after 2 days of wearing it, I realise that it isn’t that bad. It is long but I am still okay with it. Maybe I would get an alternate strap from Taobao.. Please make a adjustable strap, Longchamp! The size is just right for my daily work use + lunch! There is no structure making it very difficult to adjust things. When comes to bags, I am into organisation properly. So it wasn’t something I would like.
Overall I must admit that it is not love at first sight but I feel that It would be put into a good use.

LL Bean (International Shipping) Review

Last year, I realise that LL Bean have opened their global site which provide direct shipping to customers outside US.

I was so happy to know that as they have become my favourite brand. They send me catalogue every season ❤  Shipping is free if you spend S$150 and above.

The only issue is that they do not allow monogram on their items . So I can’t get the boat totes monogrammed! But I would shop from their US sites if I ever need a LL Bean tote again.  LL Bean always have 25% off. So I always wait for it first before getting anything.

I finally decided to pull the plug when 3 of my wishlist are on sales. Note: Unlike other online retailer, the 25% code is STILL applicable to sales items!

IMG_9346.JPG

Here’s what I have gotten:
1) French Sailors Shirt Three-Quarter-Sleeve Boatneck – this is in my wishlist like forever! I have been looking for something like this like forever. The real thing looks abit different from what I have thought.  I thought its more T-shirty but its more like a knit top. The only thing is the strong smell of the clothes. After a couple of days, the smell is still there. I guess it would be fine after washing… This top is thicker than usual because it is not T-shirty so I can wear it to work too!
2) Signature Poplin Skirt Sailcloth Print – I jumped into getting this when I saw it was on sale. And only one size is left. MY SIZE! I really love the print of the skirt as it is very unique. It is still very expensive after the 25% but the quality is really good! I didn’t any really good quality skirt as I am not a skirt person. But this skirt would be perfect as it is suitable for all occasions.
3) French Sailors Hoodie Long-Sleeve – Again, somehow it is different from what I have thought lol and again, the strong smell argh! but I wanted to take this with me to a cruise next month. It is sooo perfect!!
4) West End Fitted Tee Three-Quarter-Sleeve Scoopneck Dot – I bought this because I am revamping my wardrobe to have more basic clothes that suits work too. (I am getting rid of Tshirts) 3/4 sleeve seems more appropriate for work as well.

Okay, so after placing order, I didn’t get any email confirmation which was very strange. However, the next day, I received an confirmation from BorderFree. So BorderFree is recommended by many US sites for shipping order outside US. But I have never use them as I have my own agent  if I ever need to ship something from US.

My order was shipped very quickly – the next working day. They uses Aramex for delivery. It takes about a week (minus weekend) to receive it. Overall, I am happy with everything. However, since their clothes aren’t that cheap, I wouldn’t be shopping that often.

Book Beau Review

After a long hiatus on Kickstarter, I started backing another project again.
The reason why I stopped using Kickstarter is that I met a scammer (Yeah they have like a second company or something. So I don’t know why they can’t deliver) and a few products that I don’t really used. So I became very selective. But I decided to back only products that I would use. I can’t remember how I came across Book Beau – could be some bookish post. Then when I went to their Etsy, I was so disappointed that their store is closed.

Then I saw that they have a Kickstarter! I backed because it is a bookish product – something I would use! I couldn’t decided on the size so I backed all 3 sizes.

So BB is like a pouch thingy with pad to protect your book. If you read alot and own alot of books, you would know the feeling of having a book with folded edge. Horrible feeling!

The idea of BB isn’t exactly something very unique. Well, if you are talented, you can easily DIY. But I can’t sew so I have to spend money to get one!

IMG_9310IMG_9301

I love the Carousel fabric. It is so pretty ❤ But I regretted on the Carina Nebula. The photo look so much nicer. The real thing just look different. 😦

Oh, the smaller one fit in my new Hobonichi Techo 😀

Okay now for rants…

The first issue that I have is the choice of fabric. One main reason why I backed this project is they have the Harry Potter Quirky Wizards fabric that I am fond of! But it was later out of stock due to supply issue. It was a major disappointment but things do happen in Kickstarter project! They have used Always (shown above) as the replacement. Okay, I do love the “Always” but it has become a bit overrated for me. I get too much of the “Always” stuffs in the previous subbox. And B&W fabric is too plain for my liking. So I choose other 2 fabrics instead of having all the same like I wanted.

The second issue is the additional shipping issue which I did not get any satisfactory answer. So I added on another BB as I wanted to give it to a friend for Christmas. The post in Kickstarter didn’t mention anything about additional shipping that I have to pay for. When I emailed them, they ignored me as they were busy with shipping and upgrading. So after they ship (that’s would be my third issue), I decided to email them. At first someone who just joined their team told me it was quite clearly stated. Then when I replied back with the link. She told me that she will pass it to her superior as she wasn’t here during the Kickstarter period. So her superior came back and say that backerkit will auto adjust for shipping blah blah. I did use a backerkit a couple of times before and is quite familiar with the system. But I never have an issue as it was always highlighted to me. Actually the amount is not a lot. But my point is that if there is additional shipping, backers should be notified as I would have get more to save on shipping.

The third issue is on the shipping. When they said they shipped everything out, but I didn’t get anything so I decided to email to them. Again, there was a issue with backerkit and it was marked shipped. So they have to adjust the system so that they can ship again.

Despite the issues, I am still quite happy with the items except for one fabric which didn’t look as nice as photos. I may not buy from them again since I have 3! That’s quite enough to last a lifetime. But their store would be opening soon. So purchasing from them would be much easier.

Planner for 2018

It’s time of the year again to think about my planner next year. This year, I uses a Moleskine as I recieved an voucher to use in a local bookstore. Being a local bookstore, there isn’t much choice. So I choose the reliable moleskine as I always like their notebooks and they have the print of The Little Prince which is one of my favourite!

Although overall the quality is good, but then its not something I would use again as I wanted to try others…

Kikki K
I always like Kikki K’s stuffs. They are so colourful and cute… but they are also pricey.
One of my criteria for a planner is it needed to be colourful so as I can be productive. (Motivation factor!!) Kikki K met the criteria.

Filofax or similiar (organisers)
I have not used a filofax but I have 3-4 similiar organisers from Taobao. An organiser is good because you can just remove the pages easily. Taobao and Etsy have lots of inserts which can be so fun to use.

Hobonichi
There is so much good reviews on this planner. It would be release in the next week or so.. so I planning to research abit more on this planner over the weekends as I might be getting this!

Frankie
I used a Frankie in 2016 and I love it. The only problem is the space is too small. But nowadays I don’t do extreme planning so space is no longer a problem for me. I find Frankie planner are super good quality as they use really good quality paper. But the planner is quite thick? So its not easy to carry if I uses a smaller bag.

Personal Planner
I still loves customisation ❤ Personal planner have the function and yet its not as bulky as others (Plum, EC etc).

Divination Planner (ETSY)
This is an harry potter inspired planner. I know!! It’s soooo perfect!!

Planners that I have used and not like it:
Passion Planner – Beside the fact that the kickstarter project was delayed, the space in the planner was too small to write. I would never consider them again due to bad experiences with the company itself. But personally I find the planner is too plain
Plum Planner (Etsy) – Originally I thought BIG planner would be so fun. But I ended up not using majority of the pages so I never look at big planner anymore. I have not try Erin Condren or Day Designer but I doubt they would be much use to me.

Review – ShopandBox

A couple of weeks ago, I realise the LL Bean totes has an collobration with Peanuts. It’s the limited edition tote which can only be purchased from the Snoopy Museum in Tokyo. Yes, it’s manufactured by LL Bean (!!!!).

It is extra exciting because I am a huge fan of both LL Bean and snoopy.  I have 3 of their totes (!!!) and I love them. Because 1) They are high quality  2) They are light weight 3) They are so sturdy and doesn’t seem to get spoiled ever. So being a fan of both Snoopy & LL Bean (!!!), I have to get this since it’s limited edition!

I had a slight mind block from this exciting news that I misunderstood that it has been released.

Anyway there wasn’t much news about it online so I didn’t have much information. But I realise that they have 3 sizes – Technically, they are Mini, Small & Medium. I originally thought they refers to the same as the ones from US (Small, Medium & Large). But after googling a bit, I finally realise that mini is a different size! It is somehow an “special” size selling only in the Japanese market. I love the small size as they still can carry umbrella (I don’t go anywhere without my umbrella). But I am not too sure about the mini size. So I decided not to purchase the mini size. I went for Small & Medium as they are my favourite size!

I posted up an request in Airfrov.   But there wasn’t any response. Excuse my anxiousness. But I really thought it was released and wanted someone to just promise he/she will buy for me. Anyway, I got impatient and went online to google about personal shopper etc. That’s how I found BoxandShop!

So you just create your order and they will allocate a boxer (shopper) for you. My boxer responded very quickly – he send me an message the very next day! 🙂 After we agreed on the price (He included things like taxes, transport and the entrance fees). I think it is pretty much reasonable as it is an limited edition item. Even though it was higher than I thought, but I decided to go ahead and pay invoice 1. After you paid, the boxer (shopper) will then go ahead and do the purchase for you.

Again, my mind is still blocked at that time, so I wanted to settle everything quickly. I was also distracted as I was outside. So I went ahead to pay for the invoice even though I thought it was pricey! After that, I realise we misunderstood each other. He thought that I wanted 2 of each size. So I send him an message to explain the error. Again, he responded so quickly and say he will process the refund for Invoice 2.

After purchasing the items, an invoice (Invoice 2) was send with the shipping quote and service fees. I recieved via DHL within 2 days!

IMG_4665Ahh well. It was most expensive than what I would have pay for if I uses Airfrov instead. Aifrov saves on international shipping as the traveller brings back the items for you. But overall, I still feel it is well-worth it. The service provided by the boxer are more dedicated. I did had an bad experience in Airfrov. The shopper didn’t purchase the items for me and didn’t bother to update. I send an complain to Airfrov and all they could do is to send a warning to the shopper. I felt that it is much more reliable when getting  limited edition items.

IMG_4667

I have been using my totes for a few times and absolutely love it. I felt so lucky because I have no idea where else to get this if there wasn’t for service like ShopandBox.

Review – Tom Bihn Side Kick

I found out about this brand too late! I think its a super great company that make really good quality bags! So when I learned about this company, I was very anxious to own one. So I decided to purchase one of the smaller bag (an cross body known as Side Kick). This bag is similar to a Muji bag that I have purchased 3-4 years ago. As much as I love nice looking cross body aka “fashionable” cross body in fabulous vegan leather , I think nylon bags are much functional when you are travelling. They are lightweight, decent, low profile (especially when you are in an not-so-safe city) and always full of compartments that you can use. Functional is way important than being fashionable. My Muji bag has been an awesome side kick for a long time. But recently I noticed an unremovable white stain on the bag. Furthermore, the bag do not have compartments that I really need. Hence, I purchased this to replace my muji bags and other cheaper cross body bags that I owned.

I spend a couple of days deciding on the colours.  70% of my life I spend on buying black bags. But do I want another black bag again? I mean its going a bag that I would use for a very long time! So…I must make careful decision. I finally came to a decision while riding the train back. I decided to get a Black Halcyon (aka black checkered nylon). Checkered pattern was never my kind of thing. But I thought plain black is too boring! I am however craving for a purple bag (I kinda like darker shade purple secretly as it was the official colour switch for my previous company. Due to the influences, I have been getting things of that colour occasionally.) or burnt orange. Burnt orange look so cool and unique!

It took a day for them to ship and only one day to reach a forwarder I am using being in the next state. BUT the forwarder took super long to process the shipment to me. I shall not go into that. I waited for about 10 days plus to get the package.

ef7e1c76-216b-4210-bc95-8616621f3e7f_zpsbh56kf1j

So the first day it came, I couldn’t bring it with me for the next day as I need to carry library books! But I was determined to carry it asap. I have forgotten to bring back my notebook and planner from work on that day I decided to start using the bag. So I was a bit worried if my bag would fit them. At 5.20pm (I end work at 5.30pm officially!), I decided to start packing. Since my SK couldn’t fit in my lunch boxes, I have to carry a lunch tote. So I figure out I could squeeze in some stuffs if I couldn’t fit them in! At the same time, I try to arrange the pouches in order to make use of the awesome o-rings that they have.

Of course, they amazingly fit in! And there is more space for more things… Some compartments are still empty…

c6abacc5-e4e4-4958-aac2-67df4932c7a7_zpskphyrgik

Here’s what I have in my beloved Side Kick:
A slim umbrella – I am most pleased about this. I cannot go anywhere without an umbrella. Most people mentioned about fitting in an bottle. But I have not read about umbrella. I probably put in an water bottle if I am traveling. But if I am commuting, umbrella is more important.
Tissue – Again, I cannot go anywhere without a tissue pack or two.
Card access – Hufflepuff lanyard 🙂
Pouch for transport card, keys & coins – I modified this and was pleased that the key straps that I have purchased from Tom Bihn can be strapped into the zip of the pouch. I was so glad that I purchased an 8 inch strap as it make tapping of cards much easier!
Tom Bihn Ballistic organiser (mini) – I uses this as an wallet. It works so well as its much larger than most coin pouch. Notes can be easily slot in and out. I am thinking of getting another piece next time to carry my other necessities. And of course I strapped to the one of the o-ring with the default key strap given. It is again so useful as I do not have to search for my wallet again!!
Notebook – I uses an fauxdori currently. It is from Taobao, China. As much as I like Midori, I would never buy their traveller’s notebook being its made of real leather.  But I uses the authentic refills from Modori.
2017 Planner from Moleskine
Pens – My all-time favourite Sarasa Clip Pen & a Snoopy pen from ASOS. And I absolutely love the Pen compartments!!
Power bank
iPod Nano
iPhone 6S (Not pictured)

I really wanted to cover it with pins and badges for personalisation. But I read about not being covered by warranty etc. But I thought who cares! I would just get another to replace. But I realise a button may not fit in that well as the front compartment is quite bulky. But I decided to attach an keychain to personalise. Another alternative is probably to attach it onto the strap instead since the strap is detachable.

Obviously, I am super pleased with the bag! Although its much more expensive than my Muji bag (3 times!), but I know this bag would last for a long time!

1. There is so much compartments! I love compartments as they really helps in organisation!
2. O-rings. So much love for this function. It make life easier. I can easily tap my card & I can easily find my pouch.
3. Size. The size is amazing! It can fits in all the essential yet it is not crazy big. I anticipated using this for my next holiday trip.

What I do not quite like:
1. I wasn’t a fan of the strap originally. It is more thin than my Muji bag. It is less comfortable. But after 2-3 days, I gotten used to the strap.
2. There is not much padding. I put my planner (hardcover) at the back and it feels uncomfortable due to the lack of padding support. But its really not an big issue. Adding in padding probably make the bag more bulky. An alternative is to place something soft – e.g. a lightweight scarf as “padding” at the back.

Baggallini Avenue Tote Review

Late last year, I have changed job. And I started bringing my own lunch. Being me, I changes bag often and sometimes I just want to carry a huge tote to throw everything in!

3 weeks ago, I decided that to find a bag with organising compartments! I didn’t realise it for years that such bag are much useful. It is much more functional as compared to bags that look nice but do not have the compartments. Yes I am super obsessed with organising. An ex colleague used to comment that I have way too many pouches in my bags. Yes I love putting things into pouch because I simply cannot stand them all over the places. I usually have 2-4 pouches depending on what bag I uses. I also realise that there isn’t much choices in the market. Not much bag companies focus on this – making bags with compartments.

So after doing some research, I decided to purchase an Baggallini bag. There is a lot of good reviews on this bag (Avenue Tote) on eBags, Zappos and Amazon. I wanted to buy from Zappos as it is cheaper. But fortunately, I was unable to pay with my card. It was fortunate as I realise Amazon has it and was on sale! I purchased it at USD69.90 and now it is listed at USD98! And I get free shipping! Well I have to spend USD125. But it was worth it. I purchased some OST and Funko.

Baggallini focus on bags for traveling. My main focus is for commuting rather than traveling as I don’t like carrying a lot of stuffs when traveling. But who knows? Maybe one day, I will take this on a trip.

On the first look it wasn’t impressive. It look cheap. But after examining the material, I felt that it seems to be of good quality. The bag is  made of nylon and made in China. But the quality is different from those usual nylon bags that I have seen from China. This is far better quality. Those cheaper nylon are usually very shiny looking. But this bag seems to be in between canvas and those lower quality nylon bag. I felt that it could last much longer than those bags. But my main concern is how waterproof this bag is. I guess I will find out when I uses this when it is raining.

Of course the main focus of the bag is the compartments! The video on Zappos shows the different compartments and it was the deciding factor for me. I felt that the compartments would be useful as I can now organise my things into the bag instead of putting them in pouches! As a result, I may cut down on pouches. Yay minimalism! I don’t carry laptop or tablet. But the compartment meant for laptop/tablet can be used to put planner, notebooks etc. When I buy bags with compartments, I always ensure that there is one for pens. Because being me, I cannot go anywhere without a pen! So I am looking forward to using the pen compartment.

So, on the first look, this bag seems really functional and useful with the different compartments. The materials aren’t something very impressive. But it looks like good quality and seems lasting. So this bag will replaces a couple of big tote that I have to be the daily work tote. I am going to start using and will eventually “remove” the rest from my life =)
