How to remember your login details after you change phone

When someone change phone/laptop,  it is very often that he/she don’t quite remember the login details of an website/social network site. If it is a new account, then he/she can easily set up a new one. But if it is an account with lots of history, then it will be a huge problem. Here’s some tips that I shared with a friend who have recently changed phone but couldn’t remember her login details!

1 – Despite what the security expert are saying, I think it is still the best to keep to one password. Well, maybe a couple or so. When you couldn’t remember the password, there is high chance that you will try the ones that you are familiar with!

2 – If you signed up a new email account to use as the login ID, please always use the forwarding service to forward all your emails to your primary account. I have like 20? email accounts. But I have only 2 primary account – one for serious matter like job applications and others for informal matters like Kickstarter, social network etc.

3 – Write it down on a notebook and keep it at your desk at home. Lock it up if you feel like its needed. What is the chances of anyone peeking at it if it is left at home? 🙂 I never bring it out but you can do that if you want to.
One of my colleague kept his password in an password protected document. But I cannot imagine what will happen if his laptop is crashed! And what if you lost the access to the laptop itself?!

4 – Use encrypted password when writing it down. For e.g. instead of password write pxxxwxxx It should be a familiar password so encrypting it shouldn’t be a problem!

5 – Apps. I am sure there are some app that allowed you to save your password info one way or another. But I never trust technology.

Weekly roundup – 6 Sept to 13 Sept

So another week has passed by… We ended the week with the result of our General Election. I have mixed feeling on the election. I am rather disappointed that the ruling party is still the biggest winner. I was hoping for more seats to be occupied by the opposition party. On other hand, I am relieved that most of us has voted wisely. Now I am not really into politics and stuffs…but I have not been very happy with some stuffs. I shall not get into the details but let’s hope for better future 🙂

Work
I will have an opportunity next week to discuss a new career prospect. It might be a better future or just something else? It is also through this opportunity that I started to rethink about myself. I am really excited. I am frustrated in my current role and wanted to move on. But I don’t want to move just because I wanted to move on. I wanted an opportunity that allow me to show my potential and at the same time have the freedom to discover about myself and know what I want eventually. I thought I knew what I wanted but… well, lets just say it become something unrealistic! This opportunity seems to be aligned on what I wanted.

Minimalism, productivity etc
On Friday (when we had a day off for polling day), I thought I could be more productive. But I had a headache which never goes away… then I wasn’t in the mood for the previous days due to… woman’s problem.
Ahh, so much excuses! But truth is… nothing much has been done! But I visited a cafe yesterday with a planner and pens. It worked like magic – I written lots of stuffs. Yay for productivity!

Television show
I am now watching Chuck! I had the DVD from amazon. But I forgot about it. HAHA! But I found it again last week or so. (on a side note – I really do need to do an inventory on my DVD!) so I have started watching and I have watched 4 episodes so far! I enjoyed it as it is not something too serious… It was from 2007 but it doesn’t look like old shows that are sometimes too boring to even watch. I also like the fact that it is not very connected. You know some shows you just have to watch one episodes after another cos its too exciting so you wasted all your weekend on watching it. Whereas for Chuck, I can watch and stop whenever I want!

Shopping
Okay, I bought 2 stuffs last week. I feel like I broke the chain or something lol. When I broke it, I kinda think it’s okay to buy. But nevertheless, I am just glad that they are not clothes, bags or shoes.
I will blog in more details but I purchased:
1) Frankie diary 2016: http://www.frankiepress.com.au/shop/frankie/frankie-diary-2016-pre-order
2) Holga Camera: http://www.holgacamera.com/holga-135bc-black-corner-35mm-film-camera-with-color-flash/
(I had a initial post on this)
3) Fujifilm Instax Mini 8
I could have control it more but I could also view it as some kind of reward for myself for saving up for so long! Now i need to go update my google sheet as I have some other stuffs which I have been eyeing.

Analogue camera or not?

I feel like I am moving back in time. Recently I found myself interested in analogue camera! They were soooo popular a few years back where many online sellers were selling them. But I never got into it. I think because I was still a poor student and developing film seems like a crazy expensive thing to do. Lately I came across a very beautiful photograph blog of one of my favourite Etsy Seller! She uses only analogue camera which is amazing! Every single of her photos look way better than mine which was taken using either by my iPhone or a digital camera!

Last week, I  mentioned I backed a kickstarter project – Holga Digital. Holga is one of the maker of analogue camera which I am considering. I also mentioned that developing film seem to be something I will ended up NOT doing! Which is why I backed the kickstarter. Although I given myself time to consider which is like 2-3 days before the campaign closes, I am pretty much set on keeping my pledge!

So this is the reason why I am writing this post instead of going ahead to order a Holga analogue camera. I am also going to a short trip to Hanoi, Vietnam in early Oct. So I wanted to take some nice photos instead of the usual picture-perfect photo on digital camera. Its true that you can easily add “effect” into the photos to make it look lomo-ish but its not what you have taken.

I could of course get a cheap waterproof analogue from Taobao to see how much I really enjoy analogue camera. But the thing is the waterproof camera do not have the same nice effect from Holga. Hmm.

[Updated]
Okay so after reading pages and pages of information, I went ahead and order a Holga 135BC. 120 is probably a better camera but I am just new to film camera and I wasn’t as good when using digital camera. So what makes me think I am better in film photography?

Anyway, a lot of shops used to sell them, but since they somehow grow out of popular :/ so a lot of shops are no longer carrying it. I couldn’t even find one in my local shopping site. I am lazy to visit the shops and it would be waste effort if they no longer carry it. I decided to purchase from HolgaCamera Dot com. It seems like a reliable site but I never shop from sites like this! I used paypal to checkout and opted for register mail for an extra 3bucks. I have purchased with 3 rolls of films so I will not have the excuse NOT to start using the camera. (like I do not have films!) I didn’t buy the lens as I wasn’t sure I would know how to use them. And I read on one blog that someone tried to change the lens and accidentally spoil the lens of the camera.

Now its time to be excited and I hope it will arrive in time for my trip 🙂

Skin wraps for Smartwatch & iPhone

I am always very nervous when it comes to installing skins/wraps or protector for my devices. Therefore, I always put off from doing so! Can you believe that I still have NOT install the protector for my Pebble Original when I have already received my Pebble Time Steel? Yup that’s how slow I am! I guess the main fear is like everyone else… that I am scared of ruining it. I have a nervous hand since young. A couple of my friends know that and will NEVER ask me to take photos as it will turns out to be blur.

So today I decided to try to install a skin for my pebble time. And I managed to install the skin!

It isn’t perfect but at least it is straight! I didn’t install the screen protector as it sounds complicated  with the water spray :/ The feature skin is from GadgetWraps! I need to order a couple of Pebble Time Steel skin next week. I love them for their cheap shipping and it didn’t take very long to reach me. I will also try to find a water spray to see if I can install the protector.

Feeling confidence, I decided to try to install the skin for my iPhone & iPad Mini from SlickWraps. And they are much much easier. Like what the guy say in the video, “you wouldn’t ruin it!”. I like that you are allow to peel off when its not align. You can always adjust until you are happy!

It does look like a brand new phone. yay for going naked (phone)!

I am so happy with the effect that I am tempted to get it in another colour but then I probably change phone faster than changing the skin. For my next phone, I shall not buy any case…. and go naked! I do highly recommend SlickWraps’ devices wrap and they are made in US.

I cannot compare GadgetWraps skin and SlickWraps skin though as I have them on different device. I did have the wraps for my Pebble Original and Steel from both companies. But I need to find time to install them.

Weekly roundup – 31 August – 6 September

It is another week again 🙂 Tension is high here as the GE2015 (General Election 2015) is approaching! I haven’t been reading news… I should start reading soon in order to vote properly.

Work
Again this is an week of waiting for news. I should probably do something! But I will have more time/energy to focus on it next week! I wrote about productivity at work in my previous post. It is also something I have been trying to achieve at work. Next time, I will be more focus on achieving this.

Schedule/Minimalism/Productivity/Organisation
Not much has been done this week either. But I have been planning and working on my to-do list for most days.

Last 2 months or so, I had a problem with my “To-do” list pages as one page is ended up being very much empty at the month end.
I finally organised in such a way that I can put in my tasks properly and hence, no page should be wasted. I organised it into Important/Not Important and Urgent/Not Important. This is derived from the Urgent-Important Matrix. With that, i am able to write them into my planner efficiently as daily to do!

Next week I believe I will have more time and energy to focus…

Spending
I continued with my zero spending for this week. But I occasionally gave treats for myself such as a Frappuccino!
This week I also purchased an online membership for myself as I feel the need to FOCUS on being myself. I will talk about it below.

Anyway other than all these, I did not spend any cents on other stuffs. But I do have some kickstarter campaigns to consider. The thing about kickstarter is they don’t close immediately and take your funds when you backed. So with a planner, I added in the task to reconsider. I backed 1 campaign to get the early bird deal. But then I will have to reconsider.

One of them is actually a Holga campaign. I was looking at a Holga a couple of weeks ago… But I decided not to get it as I don’t think I would be using it much. The idea of developing film is just…. I don’t know, sounds like something I would ended up NOT doing due to laziness. But a digital Holga?? YES PLEASE!!! I have always been attracted to Holga due to the unique feeling of their photos. It looks just so different from normal camera photos and it seems like its not as complicated to operate as compared an DSLR.

Finding myself
For the past week or so, I have been quite lost. I keep giving myself an online identity that I shouldn’t be. (It has nothing to do with cyber crime etc though! :P) By some miracle, I found an old account from 4 years ago. So I decided that I need to refocus on being myself and stop being someone who I never wanted to be! With that, I feel it is important for me to get an online membership account to mark my identity. As a perk of membership vs normal member, you can pinned a post to your own page. I feel like its a reasonable investment.

Brow problem

I must admit I am VERY lazy when it comes to brow. I feel like there isn’t a need to maintain them since they are covered by my fringe or bangs. But I kinda change my attitude towards them now.

On 7 July – of course I don’t remember the date! My planner stated so! 😀, I went for a first eyebrow treatment. I picked Benefits because I always like their skincare and beauty products as they are so vintage looking. Although I never really buy anything from there. HA.

I saw an blog post (unsponsored) online that mentioned it do not really hurt or anything. So I decided to give myself a half day off to do the waxing! I am not going into details as I did not take any picture. But I was very happy with the effect.

2 months later, I realise my brow is in a bad shape again. It is again too thick and need to maintain. So, I went online and try to find something….

Browhaus – I admit I am very intrigued by their brow resurrection treatment. It is stated to be lasting for 2 years or so. Imagine  this… You do not have to be worried about your brow for 2 years! Cool! But the price is expensive. For $1,284, it works out to be $53.50 per month. Uh, I don’t see the justification of spending that amount! I mean I am not an extremely vain person :p who find the really important need to be 100% perfect all the times. If the cost is equivalent to what I would be paying for normal brow threading/tweezing/waxing. Then I might consider. I know they are different things. But I don’t have that need now. And after doing the maths, even if I go for eyebrow waxing every month, it costs only $22. Furthermore there is a lot of reviews that the salesgirl are too pushy so I decided not to patronise them for even a simple eyebrow threading/tweezing.

So I decided to visit Benefits again! I also read online that eyebrow waxing is much lasting than the other treatment.

Muji Ball point pen

One of my favourite pens ran out of ink. It is an inexpensive ballpoint pen which I purchased from Muji.

I love this pen as it writes extremely smoothly. So far, there is none other pens that I am so pleased with.
There was never one moment that I have to write vigorously in order to let the ink to flow. And… it’s made in Japan!

Whenever I passed by Muji, I always go in and see if there is any stock of this. But they only have blue and red pen. When it comes to pen, I stubbornly prefer black ink. Anyway now that it has ran out, I am little sad. but since I have too much pens. I will not buy the replacement yet.
